Lucas discusses clever mechanics, reviews board games, and makes interesting points about the games he is currently designing.
Being a historian and writer, Lucas finds that board games can communicate history, good morals, and can teach the player helpful tips whether they be military strategy, agriculture, architecture, leadership, and politics.
Lucas's games include; board games, card games, collectible games, miniatures games, and the once in a while "revolutionary" idea.


Games Lucas is currently working on include:

Gladiator: During the expansion of the Roman Empire, many slaves were collected from the newly-conquered provinces. Some were dismissed to building the famous Roman roads, others were dispatched to row in the slave galleys, but some were handed over to the gladiatorial schools in Rome. There they learned the use of arms. Every day gladiators from these schools were sent to the coliseum where they would slaughter each other for the amusement of the crowds. Here's the question: will you survive a day in the arena? Will you earn your freedom?

1700: During the 18th century, nations were engaging in different actions and decisions that would hopefully bring more land and power to their country. To do this, nations married their children off to children of other countries, in hopes of having ties in every country, meaning in the case of sudden death, their child could become the monarch and secure more power for the other country. In this game of marriage, assassinations, wars, and peace, players play as a family dynasty attempting to spread their influence throughout all of Europe.

The Sea Hawksexternal link: Before the golden age of piracy, privateers sailed the seas. The privateers were just, courageous, gallant, and were gentlemen adventurers. Our best example of a privateer was Sir Francis Drake. A man who sailed for the glory of England, who opposed the Spanish Catholics, and who persevered against all odds.

Gathering the Clans: In this game of dominion in Scotland and its islands, players take on the role of Scottish clans striving to become the greatest clan in all Scotland. To do this, each player races to see who can be the first to acquire five settlements. These settlements can be acquired by construction, capture, and other options the game opens up to each player.

Peacemaker: gunslingers, gamblers, and gunfights. in Peacemaker, players play as western desperados with certain goals. Some are required to kill other players, while others protect, or... shoot back! Using unique simultaneous action mechanics, players are given multiple actions which they use at their discretion.

Sopwiths and Fokkers: 1914... A war later to be know as "The Great War" has just begun. Inventions just discovered and completed are now for the first time being put to the test. The newly perfected Airplanes are one of them. Both sides are now creating their newly organized air forces for the first time in the history of the military. Now in the early 1900s, a new battlefield is introduced to the war front... the air. Now not only is the sea and the ground being contested for, but now the skies. Players take on the roles of history's first fighter pilots fighting for their country's freedom, and sovereignty.

Join or Dieexternal link: In 1775 the first shot of the American War for Independence was heard around the world. Now there's no turning back for New England... join, or die. Now colonials all over the frontiers and towns rally to repulse Great Britain’s expeditionary forces. Now the main question is: who will take command? What will congress do? That is for 4-8 players to decide in an epic board game which recreates the American War for Independence in a way like no other.

Captains of Industry: Unique mechanics in Captains of Industry give players an intense, realistic insights into the 19th century imperialism. But what are these insights? Domination, economy, military action, and politics. Players play for sovereign nations contesting for the control of Europe in a period of inventions, conflict, and politics.

The Might of Rome: Politics, oratory, and treachery in Rome during the reign of Augustus Caesar. Players play for a group of senate members trying to take control of different provinces in the Roman empire. Played in a series of phases, players establish control, vote for positions, and then take drastic measures to ensure their power... military conflicts, assassinations, and espionage.
